Sachem Youth Baseball and Softball Families,

Winchester, Massachusetts is about to experience a unique event: the 12-year old Cal Ripken World Series is coming here for the first time in New England history! The date to circle on your calendar is August 11, 2009. In addition to Winchester's own World Series entry, nine other teams will represent communities throughout the United States and territories as far away as Guam!. Families, relatives, fans and media representatives will arrive with them.

Winchester's Sachem Youth Baseball / Softball Program is working hard to prepare for the World Series, and we need your help. Your contribution of $100 will help a host family with the cost of housing two visiting players, it will help with the cost to update the turf and facilities at Robert J. Nutile Field, and it will help underwrite the cost of the new media center required to host the World Series.

We are excited about this World Series. It is a great youth baseball event and it is a fantastic achievement for our community. “This is the first World Series of this type to be held in New England!” SYBS plans to host a first class event for the players, their families and friends, and for our New England community. To do that, we need your help, and we welcome your becoming part of our team. The reward of participation is great! Please let the Winchester, Boston, Massachusetts and New England communities know about commitment to this outstanding baseball event!

We are writing today to ask you to help us take an important step in our fundraising efforts. We hope every family in our program will donate at least $100 to benefit youth baseball and SYBS' participation in the World Series. Of course, we are happy to have your support in any amount, whether greater or less than $100. The goal of the SYBS fundraising campaign is $200,000.

There are two ways to make a donation:

1. Visit the club website (www.sybs.org) and click the World Series link. You will be taken to the World Series web pages, where you can choose “Fundraising” and make an online donation in the amount of your choice using your credit card.

2. Make a check, payable to “Winchester World Series” and mail it to the SYBS mail address (SYBS, P.O.Box 612, Winchester, MA 01890).

As a recognition for your support and commitment to the World Series, the club would like to send you a magnet printed with the World Series logo and dates. While it is a small item to have, it will serve as a reminder of the World Series, and it is a great looking logo!

Your support continues to make us a strong and vibrant athletic program for your children.

Sincerely,

Bob Nutile
President, Sachem Youth Baseball / Softball

p.s. I will be appearing on WinCam's Community Action Show on Wednesday night December 10. I'll be addressing Winchester to tell everyone about the upcoming World Series and to ask for grassroots town wide support of the World Series! The show will appear on Channel 8 for Comcast subscribers or Channel 36 for Verizon viewers, between 7 to 10 pm.
